Anzac Day

A record number people attended the ANZAC day service in the Yanchep National Park with over 7000 people coming to reflect on this special day. It was great to see so many children marching with the veterans and service personnel. As usual, the RSL organised everything so well including a very touching service, bringing home the sacrifice made by our diggers for this great country. The weather was really kind that day, giving everyone the chance to appreciate the stirring march past...

The local kids were out in force again for the annual Sun City News Easter Egg Hunt in Old Nursery Park in Yanchep. A perfect autum day encouraged over 600 people to attend, which together with masses of Cadbury eggs, a sausage sizzle and lots of fun and games made this a memorable event.

CWA Friendship Day

Yanchep and Districts Country Women’s Association held their third Friendship Day on Wednesday 21st of March at the Phil Renkin Centre in Two Rocks. The day was opened by the State President of the CWA of W.A., Mrs Maggie Donaldson. Also present was Mrs Laura Grey local councilor and Deputy Mayor of the City of Wanneroo. The Renegade Linedancers club were especially welcomed when Lorraine Wallis presented the CWA with a donation of $200 for their worthwhile activities.

Capricorn Fair and Festival

Now in its 6th year the Capricorn Fair and Festival on the 10th March, has become a firm favourite with both the locals and visitors alike. The Old Nursery Park in Yanchep makes an ideal venue, allowing some comforting shade from the surrounding trees and being close to the coast, catches those cooling breezes. The sunken amphitheatre feel to the Park provides a secure and friendly atmosphere that enhances the pleasure of all those that attended.

Rock Band You Am I in Two Rocks

The City of Wanneroo provided a free community concert at the Charnwood Reserve, Two Rocks on Saturday 11 February. The rock band "You Am I' fronted by Tim Rogers, provided the entertainment, ably supported by top cover band "Stone Circle". Entertainment was provided for the childen in the afternoon, with Mayor Tracey Roberts on stage later introducing the acts. A sore throat for Tim Rogers and some inclmental weather failed to stop the show being a fun time for all.

Australia Day Breakfast and Awards

What a wonderful turn out to the Australia Day Breakfast celebration at the Phil Renkin Centre in Two Rocks, many of whom turned up well before 8am to line up to receive as always… a fully cooked breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, sausages baked beans, tomato and toast, sipping early morning tea, coffee or orange juice. A very big thank you to all the volunteers who arrived very early to provide such culinary skills which was so very well received.

Over the weekend of 21st and 22nd January, the Yanchep National Park played host on Saturday to a gathering of cars from the days when Chrome was King, and a follow up gathering on Sunday when Bikes just had to be BIG.

Hot Rods in the Park

Hot Rods in the Park

The Yanchep National park was again the venue for an exciting display of beautifully restored cars. Over 4000 visitors were able view in the order of 300 hot rods of all types, thanks to the efforts of the Goodfellas Hot Rod Club, with vehicles coming from as far as Toodyay and York.
